First Response

Sometimes I marvel at how long we can struggle in a situation before we think to talk to God about it and listen for His voice. We complain about our problems; we grumble; we murmur; we tell our friends; and we talk about how we wish God would do something about it. We struggle with situations in our minds and in our emotions, while we often fail to take advantage of the simplest solution there is: prayer. But worse than that, we then make perhaps the most ridiculous statement known to man: "Well, I guess all I can do is pray." I am sure you have heard that before and maybe you have even said it. We all have. We are all guilty of treating prayer as a last-ditch effort and saying things like, "Well, nothing else is working, so maybe we should pray." Do you know what that tells me? It tells me that we really do not believe in the power of prayer as we should. We carry burdens we do not need to bear - and life is much harder than it has to be - because we do not realize how powerful prayer is. If we did, we would talk to God and listen to what He says about everything, not as a last resort, but as a first response.

God's word for you today: Let prayer be your first response, not your last resort.

Philippians 2:14-18

14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. 17 But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. 18 Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy.

Awesome July 4th 2012

Peeps, let me introduce u to my caregroup!!!!
We had blast in celebration of July 4th, 2012! We had shabu-shabu for pre-July4th celebration, played some games and laughter is everywhere. Continuing on the day itself with dimsum for our brunch and had a walk at Old Pasadena. We thought we should have just gone home after the walk since everyone was tired, but we ended up hanging out at our friend's house and guess what there's fireworks show just right in front of the house!!! Mannn...couldn't ask for better spot than this! The fireworks were awesome! Haven't seen one since mmmm...long time ago I would say..haahahaha...And afterwards, we have our own fireworks show with our little firecrackers. It's hilarious, everyone is scared with it while I was the super excited person to play with it! AWEZOME!!
And well we have work for our post-July4th celebration! =(  but oh well weekend is here in 2 days so yay!!!

The Parable of Lost Son

Luke 15: 11-32
Last Sunday, our IFGF Arcadia 2PM worship leader, Christy shared about the parable of the lost son. Are you feeling the same way as the lost son right now? unworthy to meet or go back to Abba Father?

God's grace is enough for you....

Feeling hopeless?

One day the devil was putting up an advertisement for the sale of his work tools. Things that were sold included: hatred, jealousy, resentment, dishonesty, laziness, disrespect, ungratefulness, etc. In the corner display was a simple tool which looked slightly rusted, but was the most expensive of all. One of the buyer asked, "what is this?" The devil answered, "Oh.. It is called despair." "Why is it so expensive? "Because this too is very useful and easy to use. Compared to other tools, I can easily enter someone's heart using this one. Once I'm in, I can do anything I want to that person" the devil continued.

So when you are feeling hopeless, remember that it is not from God! Anything that weakens the faith comes from the devil. Today, let's arise and say to him, "God is my strength and my shield, with Him I am unshakable." Then step out in faith. At times, life's situations push us down, but we should not remain at the bottom..stand strong...and have the character and mentality of a conqueror!

Solvang - You make me smile

A lovely sunny day at Solvang, a little Danish city in Santa Barbara County.

The city is home to a number of bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California. The architecture of many of the facades and buildings reflects traditional Danish style. As we strolled the stores and small parks, it urged me to take some candid pictures and check out what I got =)
It just fit the song
You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed
Sing like bird, dizzy in my head
Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night~

iheart Seattle

Wohoo!!! My first time in Seattle! Somehow I already love Seattle before even I place my first step on Seattle. And indeed I love Seattle so much. The gloomy weather, the relax feeling, the pretty city, the very green environment, nice architectural building, yummy food, awesome view of nature! I went for 3 days with intense food testing =) , visited the tulip farm that I already love to see it from a year ago and also visited the visitors' site... Overall, I'll give Seattle an A+ for vacation destination!!

Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year!

A new year for all of Chinese in the whole world. Red or new clothing, red envelope, family dinner reunion, lion dance , dragon show pouring here and there. It's the day where all family members gather together celebrate and spend joyous moment with each other. I miss spent Chinese New Year with my family. We used to visit my grandparents' house and then we teenagers and kids will be flooded by hong bao (red envelope). Sweets and cookies are being offered to all the guests that are visiting. Whoa...I miss those moment and the gathering. This year I spent my new year with my family in Christ! =)
We had Chinese New Year's Eve at Fu Shing, all night long laughter were echoing in the restaurant and we were the last guests to leave the place.hahahaha.. On the New year itself is Monday and there's no holiday in America so everything goes back to normal.

Freedom and Fashion

I went to a fashion show, well it's last December's event but I just posted here in my personal blog. It's an event which is different from any other fashion show event.
Freedom and Fashion is a fashion-orientated, creative arts organization dedicated to educating society about the global social issues of modern-day slavery, human trafficking, child labor, and human rights violations. They address these injustices through the purchasing power of conscious consumerism, by increasing the demand for socially responsible and ethically-produced goods and ensuring they are readily available to consumers.
A lot of designers and community partner took part in this event and it's extremely a big hit of event to fight sex trafficking.

FAITH

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor : Is GOD good ?

Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?

Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent.)

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Is satan good ?

Student : No.

Professor: Where does satan come from ?

Student : From … GOD …

Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?

Student :Yes

Professor: So who created evil ?

(Student did not answer.)

Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who created them ?

(Student had no answer.)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?

Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?

Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smell your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student : Yes.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Professor: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Professor: Yes.

Student : No, sir. There isn’t.

(The lecture theatre became very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.

Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class was in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?

(The class broke out into laughter. )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.

Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.

P.S.

I believe you have enjoyed the conversation. And if so, you’ll probably want your friends /colleagues to enjoy the same, won’t you?
Forward this to increase their knowledge … or FAITH.

Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year Y'all!!

Whoaa...2011 past extremely fast, just like in a blink of eye. 2011 was awesome and extraordinary year. A lot things happened from joy to sadness, giving and receiving, hard time to good time, etc. I might remember the bad things happened in 2011, but if I look at it again, all ended up good. For He has made everything beautiful in His time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end [Ecclesiastes 3:11] So I'm thankful for the experience I had in 2011 in dealing with different people, picking up responsibilities, a broken heart that is fixed by Him, new step in my photography career, and everything I did for His glory.

Thank you Father for the blessings that you gave to me in 2011 that I can bless others and also the love that you give that I can love like You do.

This year, it will be an acceleration and increase year! If you don't know what to do in this year, ask God and it shall be given. Remember what's your purpose in life. We are not here just to eat, sleep, earn money, build a family, have friends, etc, we are called to do more than that! So gear up people, no time to waste! You can do it coz God use the imperfect one to make it perfect. ^^
